Renewable Energy and Sustainability - Education and Outreach
We aim to have a broad impact in terms of sustainability education and outreach. We have developed a range of engaging science activities that focus on sustainability, such as renewable energy (i.e. algae biofuels), sustainable materials (such as natural artist paints), and sustainable agriculture.
Using the conceptual framework of planetary boundaries, we conduct outreach to underrepresented populations of middle school, high school, and community college students in the Los Angeles area to promote awareness of each community's environmental impact. Our ultimate goal is to reach a broad and diverse audience, and create a worldwide community that shares ideas and best practices in regards to sustainability education, so please feel free to reach out with ideas about how to grow this community focused on reducing human environmental impact.
